Since 2008 we have selected a Philanthropist of the Year. Our past winners include:
2024 - CLAYTON SWANTON

Clayton’s tireless work in our area has made a significant and lasting impact. As a founding member of the development of Northgate Trails, he has dedicated countless hours to making our local trails a place for all to enjoy. His commitment goes beyond the trails themselves—Clayton has been actively involved with the Dauphin Derailleurs Cycle Club, promoting cycling in our community, and worked side by side with Carla Wolfenden for many years on the Manitoba Summer Games, helping to shape a memorable experience for all involved.
He wanted to bring Buckets and Borders to the DRCSS and even though there was limited time, he made it happen. He was a driving force behind the new track. These contributions have not only improved our local facilities but also opened doors for future generations to experience the joys of sport and recreation.
Perhaps one of the most admirable qualities of Clayton is his unwavering support to our community. It’s not just about what he’s done; it’s about ensuring that his work will benefit Dauphin for years to come.
Clayton takes action, makes things happen and leaves a lasting legacy. His relentless pursuit of progress, his tireless work ethic, and his boundless enthusiasm have made a real difference to all of us.
Clayton, thank you for everything you’ve done and continue to do. We are incredibly fortunate to have someone like you leading the way.

2023 - Jason Beyette
Jason Beyette was chosen as our Philanthropist of the year for 2023.
Jason spearheaded an amazing project-the crop project. He reached out to organizations and individuals who immediately came on board to help. Jason generously donated his time and manpower, both in planning and delivering this project. Jason reached out to Don Tarrant of Reit-Syd Equipment, Dauphin Co-op, Love & Person Group, Repromap, 360 Ag Consulting, seed companies Nuseed, Brett Young Seeds, DEKALB, Cargill and Richardson Pioneer, and recruited Morley Bourns and the Michaleski family. So many individuals and businesses were willing to assist Jason and Lora Beyette with this project, but it all comes down to his vision and willingness to do this for DDC. We are grateful for community minded people like Jason, whose efforts will have a lasting impact on our community. Darren Eddie, Chair, was delighted to present Jason with the Philanthropist of the Year 2023 plaque. |
2022 - Peter Sklepowich
Peter Paul Sklepowich left DDCF our largest bequest to date at over half a million dollars. The tremendous impact of his gift will be touching the lives of members of our community for generations. One of the reasons he believed in DDCF was he knew that his original donation would never be touched, but allowed to continue to grow year after year, while granting back to the community. In 20 years, it will have granted out more than the original value of his bequest, while the original gift will have continued to grow every year, ensuring that the annual grants also increased.
Although we received the bequest much earlier that we should have due to his untimely passing, we admire his foresight in planning his estate and his commitment to our community. It was fitting that he be recognized posthumously as Philanthropist of the Year 2022. |
2021 - Myles & Bonnie haverluck
Myles and Bonnie moved back to Dauphin in 1979 and have been involved in promoting our community ever since.
Myles has sat on numerous boards and gave much of his time to the betterment of the community, while building a successful business that focused on making life easier for Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy customers. In addition to helping grow their business, Bonnie was active in canvassing for charities such as the Cancer Society, and various fundraising activities. She was also in charge of band concerts and was the treasurer. Myles and Bonnie were founding members of DDC and everything they have done has been to make our community an even better place to live and for this reason we were so pleased to name them Philanthropists of the Year 2021. |
